Inspired by the striking blue silk kimono that Jimi Hendrix famously wore at the Newport Pop Festival in Costa Mesa on June 22nd, 1969 and during rehearsals for Woodstock in upstate New York in August 1969, and again on The Dick Cavett Show on September 8th, 1969. He was known to pair the kimono with a pair of matching blue velvet pants.
Both pieces are now on display at the Museum of Pop Culture in Hendrix's birthplace of Seattle, Washington.
